Thursday Social Ride – Woodend – 29th September 2016

1 rider assembled in Woodend today for this mornings ride. The sun began to shine as I was preparing to start my ride.  I completed the entire ride in sunny conditions on mainly dry roads. I rode a 33km ride out to Anderson Rd, Carlshrue Weighbridge and back via Cheveley Rd. The only issue I had was in Boundary Rd at the foot of the climb where there was fast running water across the road. I then turned back and rode to Coach Rd detouring around the hazard. The first part of the ride was into a strong head wind then a tail wind on the way back.

The warmth of the cafe was nice following the ride after which I went home.

Sunday Social Ride – Woodend – 25th September 2016

20 riders assembled in Woodend this morning for this mornings ride. Conditions were sunny with a light south wind blowing. 12 riders rode the longer ride and the remaining 8 the medium ride. The ride was enjoyable due to the tail wind for the latter part of the ride back to Woodend. It was also good to be able to ride with the sun shining after the previous weeks of constant rain and drizzle.

Sue had the misfortune to have a puncture on the ride which is the first one for a while on our social rides. Donna also had a fourth place in her race yesterday.

Also the riders were all together back at the cafe following the ride which is not always  achievable. After the usual chat and company everyone departed for home.

Thursday Social Ride – Woodend – 22nd September 2016

5 riders assembled in Woodend for this morning under windy conditions for today’s ride. The sun was starting to shine through as we commenced the ride and we completed the ride in sunshine. We rode a 47km loop out to Newham, Carlshrue, Chases Ln and back.

The ride was fast on the outward section then when we turned to come back to Woodend we had the head wind to contend with on the return journey. It was nice riding in the group and have some members being able to shelter out of the wind.

Once in the cafe we had a good chat and agreed it was a good ride even with the wind.

Sunday Social Ride – Woodend – 18th September 2016

8 riders arrived in Gisborne this morning to tackle the conditions. Low cloud with misty rain and cold. All riders rode the 37km medium circuit and as we rode south out of Gisborne the rain disappeared with the roads beginning to dry and we had fine conditions for the remainder of the ride. The ride conditions on the way back from Gisborne South also had a nice tail wind to make things better.

Once safely back inside the cafe everybody enjoyed the warmth and agreed that the ride was a good one.

Thursday Social Ride – Woodend – 15th September 2016

4 members arrived this morning for today’s ride. Conditions were surprisingly good after the past few days of heavy rain. Only 2 members rode as one member had forgotten to bring cycling shoes, ( no names but he has tattoo’s) and went straight for a coffee.

The 2 riders rode a 30k loop out Boundary Road, Anderson Rd to Carlshrue and return via Cheveley Rd and enjoyed a good tail wind back to Woodend. During the ride we only had 1 section where there was any running water across the road. This section was in Boundary Road early in the ride and during the remainder of the ride there was quite a bit of sunshine and dry roads with the ever present threat of rain.

We managed to safely get back to Woodend without any rain. After having our coffee’s and walking to our cars there was rain beginning to fall. Another morning of good judgement.

Sunday Social Ride – Kyneton – 11th September 2016

19 members assembled in Kyneton this morning with clear skies and little wind. By the time the rides started the clouds had began to cover the sun making for cooler conditions.

There were 11 riders on the longer ride, 4 the medium and the remaining 4 the shorter ride. Riders on the long ride split into two groups allowing a faster group of 7 to ride at their pace and the other 4 at a slightly slower pace. Also on the medium ride 2 members  joined up with the riders on the shorter ride. The rides numbers then became 11 long, 2 medium and 6 short.

All rides had to battle a head wind for the first half of each ride which became a welcome tail wind for the second half of the rides back to Kyneton. Members on the long ride enjoyed a coffee break in Malmsbury during the ride instead of our normal practice of having the break at the finish due to the Daffodil Festival Parade in Kyneton today.

All in all a good ride was had by each group.

Thursday Social Ride – Woodend – 8th September 2016

6 riders assembled in Woodend on a very windy morning for today’s ride. 3 riders decided to catch the train to either Bendigo (2 riders), Castlemaine (1 Rider)then rejoin in Castlemaine and ride back enjoying a strong tail wind.

The remaining 3 riders rode a short 27km hard ride out Boundary Road, climbed Straws Lane and Mt Macedon Road to Cameron Drive. We then returned back to Woodend down Mt Macedon Road. Club members are starting to get some training on climbing hills for the Club’s trip to Bright in November.

Following the ride we enjoyed a coffee break before heading home. Tired but happy after the tough climb.

Sunday Social Ride – Woodend – 4th September 2016

23 riders assembled this morning for today’s ride. The weather conditions were cool  and cloudy with little wind. 2 riders who had Father’s day commitments rode the short ride, 13 rode the medium ride and the remaining 8 rode the long ride. It was good to see Dave back from his trip and Billiana riding again with us.

All rides were ridden at a fast pace because of little wind at the hillier start.  A downhill section and a tail wind for the ride back to Woodend then followed. The riders on the long ride also split into 2 separate groups as 3 riders chose to ride at a slower pace. Riders on all the rides stated that today’s ride is one of the members favorite ride from Woodend.

Once back at the cafe everybody enjoyed the usual chat before heading home.

Thursday Social Ride – Woodend – 1st September 2016

7 riders assembled this morning for the first club ride of spring. The sun was shining and conditions were good for riding if a little cool when the sun went behind clouds. Most of the ride was in perfect conditions and hopefully a sign of things to come.

We rode a 53km loop out and down Bryce’s Lane, Newham, Chases Lane and back via Cobb & Co road. The ride was into a slight head wind early that became a tail wind for the finish of the ride.

2 riders rode a slightly shorter loop to get some sprinting practice for upcoming races and everyone joined back up at the cafe for the usual coffee and a chat.

As we departed from Woodend there were signs of rain about to commence. We managed the best of the weather for the day. Good judgement or fools luck.
