Thursday Social Ride – Woodend – 15th June 2017

5 riders assembled in Woodend this morning for today’s ride. Weather was typical of late with low temperatures and a breeze blowing that appeared to get stronger during the ride.

We commenced to ride our normal loop out to Newham via Bryces Lane, then Chases Lane and back along Batters Lane. At the end of Collwells Road 2 riders decided to climb Straws Lane and the remainder continued on the ride. Another of the then 3 riders had to leave the ride early which left 2 riders completing the distance. While the wind began to strengthen at least we had a tail wind back to Woodend.

Once back at the cafe it was just the 2 of us enjoying the warmth and refreshments before heading home

Sunday Social Ride – Kyneton – 11th June 2017

23 riders assembled this morning for today’s ride. The weather conditions were cold, frosty with the sun shining and very little wind. We also had 4 riders with us for the first time.

15 riders started on the medium ride and the remaining 8 rode the longer ride. At the point where the short and medium rides split 1 member rode the short ride and rejoined the medium ride when we were on the way back to Kyneton. 3 riders on the medium ride also climbed Shepherds Hill Road for the first time. The sun began to warm us up during the ride and with no breeze it was good to be out riding.

Once everyone was back at the cafe it was the usual good time and chatter before we all headed home.

Thursday Social Ride -Woodend – 8th June 2017

4 riders braved the conditions this morning for today’s ride. The temperature was only 1 degree when we commenced to ride, so needless to say it was cold riding.

We rode one of our usual 53km loops out to Newham via Bryces Lane, Chases Lane and Batters Lane back to Woodend. Due to the frost potential we kept away from areas that could be a problem. By the time we had reached Anderson Road the sun was shining and the temperature getting warmer.  The breeze was very light and not noticeable for most of the ride.

Once back at the cafe it was pleasant to sit in the sun and enjoy our drinks before going home.

Sunday Social Ride – Gisborne – 4th June 2017

18 riders assembled in Gisborne this morning for today’s ride. Conditions were cold and frosty, however the sun was shining, making the temperature feel a little warmer. We also had 3 first time riders with the club this morning including 2 from the Femmes Cycling Workshops.

11 riders rode the longer ride, 6 rode the medium and one rider rode the short ride. During the ride the weather got warmer as the ride progressed and all members enjoyed the ride. Perfect conditions with the sun shining and no wind.

Part way through the medium ride we were joined by 2 additional riders including one more from the Femmes Workshop group which made 8 riders. Of the riders on the medium ride 5 climbed Waterfalls Rd/ Governors Road for the first time. The climb was followed by the quick descent down Mt Macedon Road which they all enjoyed without taking any risks.

All riders were then together at the cafe at the same time as those on the longer ride began to arrive not long after the medium group got back. The usual chatter was enjoyed as we basked outside in the sun with our coffees before we all headed homeward.

Thursday Social Ride – Woodend – 1st June 2107

11 riders assembled in Woodend this morning for today’s ride. Weather conditions were cold with a stiff South Westerly wind blowing.  We chose our usual 53km ride out to Newham via Bryces Lane, then Chases Lane, Batters Lane back to Woodend.

2 riders who had work or time commitments rode a shorter version of the ride. The early part of the ride was quite fast with the tail wind, however all good things must end and once we headed back to Woodend we had a head wind for most of the way.

Once back at the cafe everybody agreed that it was a good ride even with the cold windy conditions.
