Sunday Social Ride – Kyneton – 28th January 2018

22 Riders assembled in Kyneton this morning for today’s ride. We were joined by 2 others  who were late arriving.  Weather conditions were hot with a strong northerly wind even with the 8.00am start.

5 riders rode the short ride, 8 the medium and the remaining 11 the long ride. Good to have Mark D back riding again. On the medium ride one member had the misfortune to suffer a puncture and 2 others had chains come off on bumpy downhill sections.

Riders on the long ride shortened the distance as the temperature  heated up.  A large number also started from Woodend and rode back direct aided by the tail wind.

For the remainder it was the usual chatter and refreshments at the cafe before leaving for home.

Thursday Social Ride – Woodend – 25th January 2018

12 riders assembled in Woodend for this mornings ride. Weather conditions were overcast with a northerly wind blowing. As we commenced to ride the skies cleared and the temperature increased quickly.

We rode one of our normal 53km loops to Newham via Bryces Lane, 3 Chain Rd, Chases lane and back along Batters Lane.

4 riders opted not to ride the full distance due to time constraints and eliminated the loop down Chases Lane and rode a distance of approx 40km’s. The wind was beginning to strengthen by the time we reached Batters Lane  however by this time we had a tail wind back to Woodend. By the finish of the ride temperatures had increased significantly.

Once back at the cafe in the shade where we enjoyed  refreshments and a chat before heading home.

Sunday Social Ride – Woodend – 21st January 2018

29 riders assembled in Woodend this morning for today’s ride. Weather conditions were very humid with little wind. 13 riders commenced the long ride and were joined by another member who had ridden a quick ride up Mt Macedon Rd and back down to make 14 riders on the long ride. The remaining 16 riders rode together to where the medium and short rides separated.  13 riders continued on the medium ride and 3 rode the short ride.

We also had a new member (Cathy) having her first ride with the club plus one other new rider. All rides were conducted at a good pace due to the lack of any significant head wind during the ride.

Everybody was then back at the cafe together and the usual chatter and good fun was had before we all departed for home.

Thursday Social Ride – Woodend – 18th January 2018

9 riders assembled in Woodend this morning for today’s ride. Weather conditions were sunny, warm with a freshening northerly wind. Club members were spotted on the road earlier to escape the heat. Fortunately the ride was fairly quick and we were finished before the temperature was to hot. We had a first time rider (Les) with us from Taylors Lakes who had noticed our rides on facebook.

We rode one of our normal 53km loops out to Newham via Bryces Lane, Chases Lane and back to Woodend. 5 riders rode the full loop with the other 4 riding shorter distances to finish before it got too warm. Once we turned to come back to Woodend the heat became more noticeable but due to the tail wind everybody made good time back and were not exposed to it for long.

We all then enjoyed the refreshments and sitting in the shade at the cafe before heading home.

Sunday Social Ride – 14th January 2018 – Gisborne

24 riders assembled this morning in Gisborne for today’s ride. Conditions were very cold with a strong south wind blowing and the threat of rain. Fortunately there was no rain during the ride however the wind made riding difficult especially when we headed south. Once turning to head back to Gisborne we then enjoyed the tail wind back.

15 riders rode the long ride, 8 the medium ride and one rider rode the short ride. Due to the weather conditions riders on all rides varied the distances with some changing from the medium ride to longer rides and vice versa.

At the end of it all we were all together back at the cafe where we had some sunshine whilst sitting outside enjoying our refreshments before heading home.

Sunday Social Ride – Kyneton – 7th January 2018

25 riders assembled in Kyneton this morning under cool, cloudy conditions. A strong Southerly wind was blowing which made for a fast start to the ride. Unfortunately at some point riders had to ride into the wind on all rides before finishing with a tail wind.

5 riders rode the short ride, 10 the medium ride and the remaining 10 the longer ride. All distances had various degrees of climbing with the climbs all being into the wind which always them more difficult. All riders successfully made the climbs and then were able to enjoy the downhill and tail wind sections back to the finish of the rides.

Most riders then enjoyed the company at the cafe apart from those who had other commitments that meant they were unable to stay for refreshments before heading home.

Thursday Social Ride – Woodend – 4th January 2018

11 riders rode today’s ride in cool conditions with a light southerly breeze blowing. We rode one of our normal 53km routes  to Newham via Bryces Lane, Chases Lane and Clancys Lane. We started out with 8 riders with 3 late comers catching up and joining us. 2 riders rode a a shortened version of the ride by eliminating  Chases Lane. The speed of the ride was good as the wind did not slow the pace much on the return ride.

Congratulations also to Kath & Hilary who climbed Straws Lane yesterday afternoon. A great achievement as it is a steep climb. Brett was also getting in some hill climbing practice and climbed Straws Lane 3 times in succession plus going over the mount.

Once back at the cafe we were joined by John H who was a late starter.  We all enjoyed the usual chatter and refreshments before heading home.
