Sunday Ride – Woodend – 17th June 2018

3 riders arrived in Woodend for today’s ride. One of the riders had ridden up from Gisborne in the rain. As the weather conditions were so bad and not looking like improving we chose the only sensible option,  retired to the cafe for some warm refreshments and a chat before heading home.

Thursday Ride – Woodend – 14th June 2018

1 solitary foolhardy rider arrived in Woodend for today’s ride. Weather conditions were very cold with a strong North Westerly wind blowing and the threat of rain.

As the only rider was myself I rode a modified 43km version of our normal Thursday ride out to Newham then bypassed Chases Lane to get out of the headwind. Once I turned at Carlshrue I had a great ride back with a good tail wind all the way. There was no rain during the ride and the only problem was the cold and the wind.

Once back in Woodend it was great to get into the warmth of the cafe for refreshments before heading home.

Sunday Ride – Gisborne – 10th June 2018

18 riders arrived in Gisborne this morning for today’s ride on a very cold start to the day. The sun was shining but the temperature was only just above freezing. As we commenced to ride the day warmed up and ended being a great morning for a ride.

11 riders rode the medium ride and the remaining 7 the longer ride. On the medium ride one rider had to cut the ride short due to time commitments and 2 others rode a modified version by not climbing Waterfalls Road. The remaining 8 rode the full medium circuit. All riders enjoyed the conditions with sun shining and a only a slight breeze.

Back at the cafe after the ride all members were together for refreshments and chatter before we all headed home.

Thursday Ride – Woodend – 7th June 2018

4 riders arrived in Woodend this morning for today’s ride. A cold morning with a very strong North Westerly wind awaited us for the ride. Prior to departing one of the riders had a phone call with a family issue and decided not to ride.

3 riders commenced to ride our normal 53km Thursday ride to Newham via Bryces Lane, 3 Chain Road, Chases Lane and back along Batters Lane. The ride was slow early as we were riding directly into the wind for most of the way. Once we reached Pipers Creek Road we  had either a cross tail wind or a direct tail wind back to Woodend.

Once back in Woodend it was into the warmth of the cafe for the usual refreshments and chat before heading home.
