Thursday Ride – Woodend – 19th July 2018

5 members assembled this morning in Woodend for today’s ride. Weather conditions were very cold, windy with the sun shining.

We rode our usual route out to Newham via Bryces Lane, Chases Lane, Batters Lane back to Woodend. The first part of the ride was mostly into the head wind until we turned at Batters Lane for the ride back to Woodend. At this point we picked up the tail wind and enjoyed the ride back to Woodend. With the wind behind us the temperature also felt as it was warming as well.

Once back at the cafe it was inside out of the wind for the usual chatter and refreshments.

Thursday Ride – Woodend – 12th July 2018

7 members arrived in Woodend this morning for today’s ride. Weather conditions were very cold with the suns shining. At 9.00am the temperature was still about zero degrees.

We rode our normal ride out to Newham via Bryces Lane, then to Chases Lane, Batters Lane and back to Woodend. Once we rode out of the timbered area and into the sunshine the temperature began to rise and if not warm, because of the sun it began to feel better. One rider cut the ride short by not riding down Chases Lane and the remaining 6 rode the full ride. As we started back to Woodend we begun to ride into a light head wind.

Once back at Woodend the weather was good enough to enjoy our refreshments in the sunshine before we headed home.

Thursday Ride – Woodend – 5th July 2018

2 brave souls turned up this morning for today’s ride. Weather conditions were cold, very windy with light rain commencing to fall. By the time we had ridden out to around the back of Hanging Rock any rain had long disappeared and we rode the remainder of the ride in sunshine and drying roads.

We rode a 40km modified version of our normal Thursday Ride by eliminating the Chases Lane segment as neither of us wanted to turn back into the head wind when we reached that point. Once we started riding on 3 Chain Road we had either a tail wind or a cross tail wind for the remainder of the ride. After the first half of the ride when we rode into the wind it was good to have wind assistance on the way back.

Back in Woodend it was into the warmth of the cafe for refreshments before heading home.
