Woodend Ride -Sunday – 29th July 2018

12 foolhardy members gathered in Woodend this morning for today’s ride. Weather conditions were cold with a strong North Westerly wind blowing. Skies were overcast with the threat of rain present.

7 riders rode the medium ride and the remaining 5 rode the longer ride. Ride conditions were difficult for the first part of the ride as we were riding directly into the head wind. When we began to pick up the tail wind the ride conditions eased and the sun had begun to shine through early during the ride. 2 riders on the medium ride had punctures, both from tiny pieces of glass at totally different sections of the ride. Some light rain began to fall as the medium ride were nearly back into Woodend. The longer ride group caught the rain as they turned into Ashbourne Road.

Everyone was together back at the cafe and enjoyed the warmth and refreshments before heading home.

Thursday Ride – Woodend – 5th July 2018

2 brave souls turned up this morning for today’s ride. Weather conditions were cold, very windy with light rain commencing to fall. By the time we had ridden out to around the back of Hanging Rock any rain had long disappeared and we rode the remainder of the ride in sunshine and drying roads.

We rode a 40km modified version of our normal Thursday Ride by eliminating the Chases Lane segment as neither of us wanted to turn back into the head wind when we reached that point. Once we started riding on 3 Chain Road we had either a tail wind or a cross tail wind for the remainder of the ride. After the first half of the ride when we rode into the wind it was good to have wind assistance on the way back.

Back in Woodend it was into the warmth of the cafe for refreshments before heading home.
