Sunday Ride – Gisborne – 31st March 2019

19 members assembled in Gisborne this morning on a very wintry morning. The weather was cold misty and with the threat of rain. Most riders were rugged up in full winter gear for the ride. As the ride progressed we had patches of sunshine and all rides were completed without any rain. Either mugs luck or good judgement.

6 riders rode the medium ride and the remaining 13 rode the long ride. Some members on the medium ride rode modified versions by climbing Mt Gisborne and also continuing on to McBean Ave which added approx 10kms to the ride.

All riders were together back at the cafe where we enjoyed the usual chatter and refreshments before heading home.

Thursday Ride – Woodend – 28th March

4 members arrived in Woodend this morning for today’s ride. We were greeted by a very cold start to the morning and most riders were wearing arm warmers and or long sleeve jackets. Once we began to ride the sun started to shine through and the day warmed up quickly.

We rode our usual 53km route to Newham via Bryces Lane, 3 Chain Road, Chases Lane and turning at Batters Lane for the ride back to Woodend. We had a fairly light head wind out to Batters Lane followed by a tail wind back. By this time the wind had strengthened and we enjoyed a fast ride back to Woodend.

Back at Woodend we enjoyed the usual chatter and refreshments before heading home. Ken S also joined us for a coffee as well. Good to see him getting better all the time.

Sunday Ride – Kyneton – 24th March 2019

22 riders assembled in Kyneton this morning for today’s ride. We were greeted by a very foggy morning which started to clear as we commenced to ride and finished up being a warm and pleasant morning.

14 riders rode the medium ride and the remaining 8 rode the longer ride. We also had 2 first time riders with us and one rode the long ride and the other the medium ride.

All riders were together back at the cafe after the ride and enjoyed the usual chatter and refreshments before heading home.

Members are reminded that when riding in groups to be aware of their position on the road and not to ride more than 2 abreast unless to pass another rider. Riding in that fashion is against the road laws relating to cyclists. Members are also encouraged to practice riding in closer proximity to others and avoid spreading across the road.
