Macedon Ranges Ride Guide

Macedon Ranges Ride Guide cover The Macedon Ranges is made for cycling with a network of mountain bike tracks and quiet country roads to satisfy even the keenest of cyclists.

This guide details rides for all ages and abilities. There’s something for those just starting out or looking
for a leisurely weekend activity, to challenging road rides to excite the fittest cyclist.

The quiet country roads, naturally cool climate and gorgeous scenery make for great road cycling. Ride for
miles and hardly encounter a car and when you’re done for the day and need refreshment, a village, winery or café is not too far away.

If you want to enjoy all that wonderful scenery and take your time, load up the panniers with picnic ingredients (the best local produce of course) for a leisurely afternoon’s exercise and fun with the family.

For those who like a dirt track, get ready to go where the locals ride. There is more than 100km of single track weaving through the vast Wombat State Forest. Most of the tracks were discovered, and now maintained by those who are passionate about the sport. The area offers trails to suit all skill levels and weather conditions.

Developed by those who know the region best, the Guide takes in some of the Macedon Ranges’ best food and wine offering, natural attractions, points of interest and beautiful scenery.

This Guide uses a star system to rate the rides, 1 star being the easiest, 5 stars the most challenging ride. Detailed maps for all rides are available on Strava, a free, online mapping tool.
