Sunday Social Ride – Woodend – 28th May 2017

24 riders assembled in Woodend this morning for today’s ride. Conditions were sunny and cold at the start of the ride. Joining us were 8 ladies from the Femmes Cycling Workshops  previously conducted by the club over the past 8 weeks.  4 riders rode up Mt Macedon Rd to Cameron Drive, 8 riders rode to Straws Lane and the remaining 12 rode via Boundary Rd.

After a mid ride cafe stop we prepared to return to Woodend. The rain had begun to settle in by now and most riders elected to ride back by the shortest route. The rain  had passed by the time riders returned to their cars,  and the sun began to shine once more.

Following the ride most members went straight home to get warm and dry. 3 Members went to the cafe before heading home.

Sunday Social Ride – Kyneton – 21st May 2017

18 riders assembled in Kyneton this morning for today’s ride. Conditions were cool with a thick fog hanging around. The weather did not improve much during the ride. Those members wearing glasses made the comment that the fog seemed to get thicker as they rode. Glasses needed wiping for good vision.

8 riders rode the longer ride, 7 the medium ride and the remaining 3 the short ride. The riders on the longer ride managed to get ahead of the medium group particularly as the medium group rode down into Metcalfe and then had to climb back out again.

Most riders were then together at the cafe for a good chat before heading home.

10 riders arrived in Woodend this morning for today’s ride. Conditions were frosty with hazy skies and a gentle breeze blowing. One member unfortunately left his helmet home needing a trip back to collect the helmet. We rode one of our usual 53kkm loops but in reverse direction to normal. We went to Kyneton along Cobb & Co Rd, Batters Ln, then Chases Ln, Newham, Bryces Ln and back to Woodend. Ken S had the misfortune to have a slow leak in his rear tyre which after pumping up continued to leak at a faster rate so he stopped and waited for a lift back to the cafe.  Members commented that most had not ridden some of the roads in the different direction.

Sunday Social Ride – Gisborne – 7th May 2017

10 riders assembled in Gisborne for today’s ride. Conditions were cool with a northerly wind blowing. Numbers were down due to many members riding the BAD ride in Ballarat today. We had 2 new riders with the club today, Tim who lives in Mt Macedon plus Julia one of the femmes Saturday beginner riders with us for the first time.

5 riders rode the longer ride and the remaining 5 a modified version of the medium ride with distances varying from 25km for 4 members and myself 38km. The ride included climbing Waterfalls Road for all. A milestone achievement for Julia especially as she had climbed Mt Macedon Road to the saddle the previous day. Both climbs were a first. Roscoe also had the misfortune to have a cut tyre and puncture. Part of the fix meant a new tube and a $10 note to patch the hole. Just another use for the currency of the land.

Once back at the cafe it was the usual chat in the warmth before heading home.
