Thursday Ride – Woodend – 29th March 2018

7 riders assembled in Woodend this morning for today’s ride. Weather conditions were cold with a thick fog in Woodend and a southerly wind blowing. The sun was starting to break through the clouds as we began to start the ride. Once we reached Newham we rode out of the foggy weather and then enjoyed sunshine for the remainder of the ride.

5 riders rode our usual 53km route to Newham via Bryces Lane, 3 Chain Rd, Chases Lane & Batters Lane back to Woodend, 2 riders shortened the ride by not eliminating Chases Lane and riding back to Woodend.

Once back at the cafe it was the usual chatter and refreshments sitting in the sun before heading home.

Brett, Mark H, Luke, Lindsay, and Ken M rode from Dinner Plain to Omeo and back the following day to complete the final climb and we were accompanied by Ken S & Jennie who drove to Omeo and had a ride from there.

Unfortunately Ken had a puncture which caused a tyre blowout but managed to get a lift  of  approx 20km with a Parks employee back to his car in Omeo. When Jennie got back to Omeo she then rode the climb from the top of ridge out of Omeo back to Dinner Plain, a distance of 35km plus the 44km’s previously ridden.

Sunday Social Ride – Kyneton – 11th March 2018

28 riders assembled in Kyneton this morning for today’s ride. Weather conditions were clear skies and quite cool with a light wind blowing. As the ride commenced the weather soon began to warm up and the breeze freshened also. Fortunately the wind was from the north which meant a tail wind back to Kyneton.

17 riders commenced the long ride plus 2 others joined during the ride and the remaining 11 riders rode the medium ride. Ride conditions were ideal with a mainly downhill start and the return ride with the tail wind.

Both groups were together at the cafe which was mid ride at Malmsbury due to the Lost Trades Fair in Kyneton and the possibility of very crowded cafes. Once riders had finished their refreshments we then rode back to Kyneton together. Some riders started from Malmsbury and finished their ride after refreshments.

For the first time in living memory Davo did not have a second coffee stop when we returned to Kyneton.
