Thursday Ride – Woodend – 31st January 2019

4 riders arrived in Woodend this morning for today’s ride. Weather conditions were a little cool with a very strong southerly wind blowing.

We rode our usual circuit out to Newham via Bryces Lane, 3 Chain Road, Chases Lane and turning at Batters Lane for the ride back to Woodend. Due to the wind conditions the ride was in 2 parts with the first two thirds having an assisting wind followed by a head wind for the ride back to Woodend. We were also joined for the last part of the ride back to Woodend by Ken S. It was great to see him back on the bike again.

Once back at the cafe it was the usual refreshments and chatter before we all headed home.

4 riders arrived this morning for today’s ride. Weather conditions were sunny and mild at the start and becoming much hotter by the time the ride finished.

We rode a modified 43km version of our usual Thursday Ride by eliminating the section along Chases Lane to enable us to finish before the weather got too warm. The plan worked out well and we were back in Woodend by the time the temperature started getting hotter.

We then enjoyed the usual chatter and refreshments under the shade of an umbrella before we all headed home.

Sunday Ride – Woodend – 13th January 2019

19 riders assembled in Woodend this morning for today’s ride. Weather conditions were sunny, with a very strong southerly wind blowing. Conditions on the ride up Mt Macedon Road were difficult with the most amount of debris with leaves, branches, bark etc. making the climb up to Straws Lane a bit treacherous. Once off the mount we enjoyed a mainly tail wind until rides reached the turning point at the end of 3 Chain Road in Carlshrue. All rides then had a hard slog back to Woodend into the wind.

The ride was also one for mechanical issues with one rider having the rear derailleur move and completely jam under the cassette. Fortunately it was early in the ride and a relatively short walk back to the car. Another rider managed to have 2 punctures.

4 riders rode modified versions of the medium ride, 11 rode the medium ride and the remaining 4 rode the longer ride. We also had 3 first time riders with us this morning. Definitely not a good time to start.

All riders were together at the cafe for the usual refreshments and chatter before we all headed home.

Thursday Ride – Woodend – 3rd January 2019

9 riders assembled this morning for today’s ride. Weather conditions were cool early but soon began to warm up as we commenced riding.

One member had the misfortune to have a puncture just as we were about to start. After replacing the tube with a new one, this tube would not inflate. This meant a further tube was used and this tube inflated correctly. A trip was made to the bike shop to get some replacement tubes to carry as all spares had been used.

We rode our usual 53km loop out to Newham via Bryces Lane, 3 Chain Rd to Chases Lane and back to Woodend at Batters Lane. We had favorable winds for most of the ride with a head wind for part of the way back to Woodend.

Once back at the cafe it was the usual refreshments and chatter before we all headed home.
