Sunday Ride – Woodend – 24th February 2019

20 riders arrived in Woodend this morning for today’s ride. Weather conditions were perfect for riding this morning with the sun shining and light North Easterly wind blowing.

13 riders rode the medium ride and the remaining 7 rode the longer ride. We also had 2 members riding with us this morning who have not ridden on club rides for some time. (S.M and B.H.) and it was great to see them riding again. The north wind began to strengthen a little during the ride but we were mainly riding downhill at that time. Once we turned to head back to Woodend we enjoyed a good tail wind for the ride back.

All riders were together at the cafe and enjoyed the usual refreshments and chatter before heading home.

Thursday Ride – Woodend – 21st February 2019

3 riders arrived in Woodend to tackle today’s weather conditions. The morning was cold and windy with a strong Southerly wind blowing. All riders wore rain jackets early in the ride to protect from the cold wind.

We rode our usual 53 km loop out to Newham via Bryces Lane, 3 Chain Rd, Chases Lane and turning for the ride back to Woodend at Batters Lane. At this point we were riding directly back into the wind for most of the way back. The speed of the ride then dropped significantly.

By the time we reached Woodend the weather had warmed up slightly and we then enjoyed the chatter and refreshments at the cafe before leaving for home.

26 riders arrived in Gisborne this morning for today’s ride. Weather conditions were excellent for riding with the sun shining and a lite breeze. We had 2 first time riders with us this morning and both rode the medium ride. We also had L. H back with us for his first ride for some time who rode the medium ride as well. Great to see him back on the bike.

15 riders rode the medium ride and the remaining 11 rode the longer ride. There were riders on both rides that rode modified versions of the rides, eliminating part of the climb of Waterfalls Road on the medium ride and eliminating Baringo on the longer ride. Rides on both groups tendered to split into 2 groups due to varying speeds of the groups. Another rider with a new road bike had his first ride with us even though he had been doing some training before the ride. We wont be able to stop him in future.

All groups were together at the cafe but due to congestion we had to sit in 2 separate sections, however the usual refreshments and chatter were enjoyed before we all headed home.

Sunday Ride – Kyneton – 10th February 2019

29 riders arrived in Kyneton this morning for today’s ride. Weather conditions were cool early which warmed up during the ride and good riding conditions were enjoyed by all. We had one first time rider with us also this morning.

One rider rode a modified short ride, 20 riders rode the medium ride and the remaining 8 rode the longer ride. Unfortunately on the medium ride there was an accident after a clash of wheels resulted in one rider falling heavily. One of our members, a former ambulance officer was with us and a nurse also stopped to render assistance. An ambulance was called and the group directed traffic while we waited for the ambulance. The rider was then transferred to hospital by ambulance for evaluation and observation.

Once back at the cafe there was a reduced number due to the wait by the medium riders and some members who had completed their ride had already left. The usual refreshments were enjoyed with subdued chatter before we left for home.
