Sunday Ride – Woodend – 30th June 2019

16 members arrived in Woodend this morning for today’s ride with a very cold start to the ride. Temperatures were just above zero degrees as we were about to start riding. Midway through the ride the sun began to shine through at times without any warmth. One unnamed member also admitted to having a ride yesterday (Not me) and obviously got very wet.

8 riders rode the medium ride and the remaining 8 rode the long ride. Weather conditions on the ride OK early as we were sheltered from the wind riding along Ashbourne Road. After that there were some head wind sections before reaching the turning point of each ride and then enjoying the tail wind back to Woodend.

Once back at the cafe it was inside into the warmth for the usual chatter and refreshments before heading home. 2 other members were also at the cafe. Unfortunately the long ride had split into 2 groups with the last 3 riders just getting back to Woodend after the others had left for home.

Thursday Ride – Woodend -27th June 2019

6 members arrived in Woodend for todays ride on a sunny morning with a strong northerly wind blowing. Ride conditions did not change during the ride except that maybe the wind became stronger.

4 riders rode our usual 53km loop out to Newham via Bryces Lane then 3 Chain Rd to Chases Lane and turning for the ride back to Woodend at Batters Lane. 2 riders rode the modified 47km shorter version by eliminating the Bryces Lane loop. Both rides had regrouped by Clancys Lane and rode together back to Woodend. The wind on the way out to Batters Lane was strong and made the ride difficult when riding directly into the wind, but from when we turned into Batters Lane it was a case of sails up and getting blown back to Woodend. It was also good to see Michael M back riding with us again.

Once back in Woodend it was into the warmth of the cafe for the usual chatter and refreshments before we all headed home.

Thursday Ride – Woodend – 20th June 2019

4 brave souls arrived this morning for today’s ride. Weather conditions were very cold with temperatures not much above zero degrees, heavy drizzle and a strong southerly wind blowing. Not ideal conditions for a ride.

2 riders rode the usual 53km loop out to Newham via Bryces Lane and the other 2 rode a 48km modified loop by eliminating the Bryces Lane loop. Once we rode away from Woodend the weather began to clear and we had no more rain until heading back to Woodend near the Carlshrue Roadhouse. The roads were wet the entire ride with a lot of spray coming up from the road and keeping dry was difficult.

Once back at Woodend it was into the warmth of the cafe for the usual refreshments and chatter before heading home a little dryer and warmer. Back home it was then the chore of hosing down the bike and re-lubing chains etc. for the next ride.

Sunday Ride – Kyneton – 16th June 2019

15 riders arrived in Kyneton this morning for today’ ride. The smallest number of riders for a Sunday ride for a long time. Weather conditions were cold with very wet roads from a shower that came through at about 7.00am this morning. We also had a first time rider with us this morning. As we commenced riding along Baynton Road we rode into thick fog which continued until Pipers Creek Road for the medium ride and to the Burke & Wills Track for the long ride.

9 riders rode the medium ride and the remaining 6 rode the long ride. One rider on the medium ride had a puncture which slowed the group down and the riders waited whilst the tube was replaced. As a result the riders on the long ride were back in Kyneton before the medium ride.

Once all riders were back together at the cafe we enjoyed the usual chatter and refreshments before we all headed home.

Thursday Ride – Woodend – 6th June 2019

4 members braved the conditions for this mornings ride. Cold with light drizzle and a southerly wind blowing.

We split into 2 groups with 2 riders riding the normal 53km loop and the other 2 riding a shorter 47km loop by eliminating the Bryces Lane section. Once we reached Newham the sun began to break through the clouds and we rode the remainder of the ride under reasonable conditions.
