Thursday Club Ride – Woodend -8th April 2021

6 members arrived this morning for today’s ride. The weather was warm with a strong northerly wind blowing. 4 other members were present but rode up the mount instead of the club ride.

4 members rode our usual 53km loop out to Newham via Bryces Lane, 3 Chain Road, Chases Lane, Pipers Creek Road and turning at Batters Lane for the ride back to Woodend. With the northerly wind the ride out to Batters Lane was mainly into the wind. We then had a tail wind back to Woodend.  2 riders rode a shortened version by not riding the Chases Lane section.

Back at the cafe it was the usual chatter and refreshments before we all headed home.

Sunday Club Ride – Gisborne – 4th April2021

24 members assembled in Gisborne this morning on the first morning after the end of daylight savings. The weather was warm with a strong north westerly wind blowing. The ride was in one of best temperature conditions for the year to date. Due to Autumn Festival traffic in Mt Macedon today’s ride was varied to avoid the area. We also had 2 members riding who have not ridden with us for some time.

7 riders rode the medium ride and the remaining 17 rode the longer ride in 2 groups. The faster riders  in front followed by the slower riders in the second group. The northerly meant both rides were into the wind riding in the direction of Woodend.  The riders then enjoyed the tail wind back to Gisborne.

Back at the cafe it was the usual chatter and refreshments before heading home. It was a welcome change to be able to sit outside under trees and be warm.

Good Friday Club Ride – Woodend – 2nd April 2021

25 members arrived in Woodend this morning for today’s ride on a warm sunny day with a light wind blowing. One rider unfortunately was not able to ride as he had left the battery for his E Bike at home.

We rode out to Malmsbury via Cheveley Rd, to Kyneton, then Youngs Road to Malmsbury and returned along the Metcalfe Rd, Pipers Creek Road, Batters Lane, back to Woodend. Two riders decided not to have a cafe break at Malmsbury and returned ahead of the other riders.

The remaining riders enjoyed a mid ride cafe break with hot cross buns and the usual chatter before returning back to Woodend.

Thursday Club Ride – Woodend – 1st April 2021

8 members ( the usual crew ) arrived in Woodend this morning for today’s ride. Weather conditions were sunny with the temperature soon warming and a light northerly wind blowing.

We rode our normal Thursday ride out to Newham via Bryces Lane, 3 Chain Road, Chases Lane and turning at Batters Lane for the ride back to Woodend. With the northerly wind the conditions were the opposite to most of our Thursday rides. We had a head wind early followed by a tail wind back to Woodend. The ride was very enjoyable as we were warm for a change.

Back at the cafe it was the usual chatter and refreshments before we all headed home.

7 members arrived in Woodend this morning for today’s ride. The weather was overcast with a very strong south westerly wind and misty rain. As we commenced riding the weather had cleared by the time we reached Newham and we enjoyed sunshine for the remainder  of ride.

We rode our usual 53km loop out to Newham via Bryces Lane, 3 Chain Road, Chases Lane and turning at Batters Lane for the ride back to Woodend. We had a tail wind for most of  the first part of the ride then a head wind back to Woodend from Batters Lane.

Sunday Club Ride – Woodend – 21st March 2021

5 hardy souls arrived in Woodend this morning for today’s ride. The weather was wet, windy and cool.  After checking the weather radar a break in the rain appeared so we decided to ride. By the time we commenced the rain had stopped and we had no further rain during the ride. We decided to ride the 25km short ride so as not to get caught well away from Woodend if we had more rain.

The riding conditions were a tail wind out to Carlsruhe followed by a  head wind back to Woodend.  The sun began to shine during the ride and most riders had removed wet weather jackets by this time. After completing the ride we decided against a second loop to be on the safe side and remain dry.

Back at the cafe it was the usual chatter and refreshments before heading home. As we started to leave the cafe the rain began again. Either good judgement or mugs luck.

Thursday Club Ride – Woodend – 18th March 2021

8 members arrived in Woodend this morning for today’s ride. Weather conditions were ideal for a ride with sunny skies and a light breeze. The temperature increased during the ride and we had one of the better rides for some time.

We rode our usual 53km circuit out to Newham via Bryces Lane, 3 Chain Road, Chases Lane and turning at Batters Lane for the ride back to Woodend. I had to modify my ride after having a mechanical problem with my rear derailleur on 3 Chain Road. I then had to ride back to Woodend on the smallest cog of the rear cassette.

Back at the cafe it was the usual chatter and refreshments before we headed home.

Sunday Club Ride – Gisborne – 14th March 2021

20 members arrived in Gisborne this morning for today’s ride. The weather was very cold at the start with the sun shining and a strong southerly wind blowing. Another member joined the long ride after having ridden from Woodend.

11 members rode the medium ride and 10 rode the longer ride. One member shortened the medium ride as he had other commitments. With the southerly wind blowing both rides had a tail wind up the climbs followed by a head wind back to Gisborne. 3 members on the medium ride also climbed Waterfalls & Governors Roads for the first time. An excellent effort. Fortunately most of the ride back to Gisborne was downhill and the wind was not a big hindrance.

Riders were together at the cafe except that is was very cold under the trees and the medium group had left just before the long ride group arrived. The usual chatter and refreshments were enjoyed before everyone went home.

Thursday Club Ride – Woodend – 11th March 2021

4 members commenced riding from Woodend on a very good day for a ride. We were joined by 2 other members during the ride who missed the start of the ride. The weather was sunny and warmed up during the ride with a light wind blowing. As the ride progressed the wind began to strengthen from the north for a good tail wind back to Woodend.

We rode our usual 53km circuit out to Newham via Bryces Lane, 3 Chain Road, Chases Lane and turning at Batters Lane for the ride back to Woodend. Ride speeds were good due to the tail wind on the way back. It was also good to see one of our riders who had not been riding for a few months back again.

Back at the cafe it was the usual chatter and refreshments before we all headed home.
