Thursday Club Ride – Woodend – 22 April 2021

2 hardy souls arrived in Woodend for today’s ride. The weather was cold, cloudy with a strong north westerly wind blowing. As we rode past Hanging Rock the cloud descended from the mount. We then had light misty rain for most of the remainder of the ride. As we were putting our bikes back into our cars in Woodend the skies cleared and the sun shone through.

We rode a 40km modified version of our normal route to Newham via Bryces Lane, 3 Chain Road, and deleted the Chases Lane loop and returned back via Cobb & Co, Clancys Lane to Woodend.

Back at the cafe we had our usual chatter before we headed home.

Sunday Club Ride – Woodend – 11th April 2021

12 hardy souls braved the cold conditions for today’s ride. The weather was very cold with a very strong south westerly wind blowing and the ever present threat of rain.

5 riders rode the medium ride and the remaining 7 rode the long ride. We also had one first time rider with us. The medium ride did not have any rain. The long ride encountered some light rain on two occasions. One rider decided to put his rain jacket with the second shower and the rain stopped straight away.  The early part of the rides were into a head wind, then a middle section enjoyed a tail wind and the final short section back into the wind.

Sunday Club Ride – Gisborne – 4th April2021

24 members assembled in Gisborne this morning on the first morning after the end of daylight savings. The weather was warm with a strong north westerly wind blowing. The ride was in one of best temperature conditions for the year to date. Due to Autumn Festival traffic in Mt Macedon today’s ride was varied to avoid the area. We also had 2 members riding who have not ridden with us for some time.

7 riders rode the medium ride and the remaining 17 rode the longer ride in 2 groups. The faster riders  in front followed by the slower riders in the second group. The northerly meant both rides were into the wind riding in the direction of Woodend.  The riders then enjoyed the tail wind back to Gisborne.

Back at the cafe it was the usual chatter and refreshments before heading home. It was a welcome change to be able to sit outside under trees and be warm.

Sunday Club Ride – Woodend – 21st March 2021

5 hardy souls arrived in Woodend this morning for today’s ride. The weather was wet, windy and cool.  After checking the weather radar a break in the rain appeared so we decided to ride. By the time we commenced the rain had stopped and we had no further rain during the ride. We decided to ride the 25km short ride so as not to get caught well away from Woodend if we had more rain.

The riding conditions were a tail wind out to Carlsruhe followed by a  head wind back to Woodend.  The sun began to shine during the ride and most riders had removed wet weather jackets by this time. After completing the ride we decided against a second loop to be on the safe side and remain dry.

Back at the cafe it was the usual chatter and refreshments before heading home. As we started to leave the cafe the rain began again. Either good judgement or mugs luck.
