Sunday Club Ride – Gisborne – 31st January 2021

22 members rode this mornings Gisborne ride. Weather conditions were cool with a very strong Southerly wind blowing. Conditions warmed up a little during the ride when the sun came out. The southerly wind meant a tail wind to Woodend, the climb up Mt Macedon Road providing shelter from the wind. The descent  back to Gisborne was into the wind however with the steepness of the descent was not a big issue.

3 riders rode a modified medium ride after one rider had  minor mechanical issue. 11 riders rode the faster long ride group, and the remaining 8 riders rode the slower long ride group with a slight modification to the published route.

Back at the cafe it was the usual chatter and refreshments before we all headed home.

Thursday Club Ride – Woodend – 28th January 2021

7 members arrived in Woodend this morning for today’s ride. We were joined by another member part way through the ride. The weather was overcast with a light wind blowing. The skies cleared during the ride and we had sunshine for the most part.

We rode our normal 53km ride out to Newham via Bryces Lane, 3 Chain Road, Chases Lane and turning at Batters Lane for the ride back to Woodend. Due to the light breeze the ride was ridden at a faster pace than the last few rides. It was nice not being battered by the strong head winds we have endured lately.

Back at the cafe it was the usual chatter and refreshments before we all headed home.

Sunday Club Ride – Kyneton – 3rd January 2021

20 members arrived in Kyneton this morning for today’s ride. The weather was very cloudy with rain threatening for the first club ride of the year.

14 members rode the medium ride and the remaining 6 rode the long ride. Riders on the medium ride encountered a heavy shower as they turned into Malmsbury East Road.  Riders stopped at the regrouping point to put rain jackets with some of the riders stopping when the shower started to don jackets. The rain had stopped by the time we commenced riding again and we had no more for the remainder of the ride. 4 riders decided not to ride the medium ride and rode the short ride instead. Once the remainder topped Shepherds Hill Road the sun came out and the roads dried very quickly.   Riders on the long ride were lucky and missed the rain entirely.

Back at the cafe it was the usual chatter and refreshments before we all headed home.

Thursday Club Ride – Woodend – 31st December 2020

12 members assembled in Woodend this morning for the last club ride of the year. Weather conditions were cold, a very strong South Easterly wind and light drizzle. Another member joined us on the ride at Newham. Once we crossed the freeway out of Woodend we rode into sunshine and this remained until the last portion of the ride as we rode back into the conditions we had left earlier.

We rode our usual 53km circuit out to Newham via Bryces Lane, 3 Chain Road, Chases Lane and turning for the ride back to Woodend at Batters Lane. 3 Members decided not to ride the Chases Lane section and rode 40km instead. For most of the ride we had an assisting tail wind until we reached Batters Lane. From there back to Woodend it was slow and straight into the head wind. Everyone one was glad to finish the ride and get out of the wind.

At the cafe it was the usual chatter and refreshments before we all headed home.
