Sunday Ride – Kyneton – 1st April 2018

32 riders assembled in Kyneton this morning for today’s ride. First ride after the end of daylight savings and no one got the clocks wrong. Weather conditions were excellent with some cloud and light winds which did get stronger towards the end of the ride.

12 riders assembled for the challenge ride of 100km at 8.00am for a early start, with 1 rider arriving late and decided to chase the group ahead.

The first of three punctures occurred just after turning into Metcalfe Rd, the second (different rider) stopped us in our tracks just after the Malmsbury turn off on the way to Metcalfe. We proceeded without further incident all the way to Faraday and over  Mt Alexander to the Tracks Cafe in Harcourt. For several riders this was their first venture into this territory. Not long after leaving the cafe, our third puncture occurred (repeat offending tyre). Repairs were quickly made and we proceeded back to Kyneton where some riders planned to ride an extra couple of kms around the streets to achieve 100 ks for the day.

19 riders commenced at 9.00am with all riders riding together to the point where the 2 rides separated.  7 then rode the short ride and the remaining 12 the medium ride. There was some consternation when one rider rode past the turning point at the start of Youngs Road, ( Name will not be mentioned) Luke got the job of chasing after the lost sheep and bringing them back. Unfortunately the rider had ridden all the way up the other side of the hill in Malmsbury ans then had to ride back into and up the hill to Youngs Road.

Once back at the cafe there was  bit of fun when the rider in question mentioned that they had a turned based app on the phone, too busy enjoying the ride on a new road bike. After the usual refreshments we all headed for home.
