Sunday Club Ride – Gisborne – 5th July 2020

20 members arrived in Gisborne this morning for today’s ride. Weather conditions were cold with low cloud around. Once we commenced the rides the skies began to clear and sunny conditions were present for most of the rides.

4 riders rode the medium ride and the remaining 16 rode the long ride. The long ride soon split into multiple groups depending on the speed of the riders. The long ride was fast early as it was mainly downhill until the Kerrie Valley climb. Once over the top of the climb the remainder of the ride was either flat or downhill with only a small section of uphill on the way back to Gisborne. As the long ride was finishing the cloud and some misty rain began to fall.

Back at the cafe it was the usual chatter and refreshments before heading home.

Thursday Club Ride – Woodend – 25th June 2020

9 members arrived in Woodend this morning for today,s ride. Weather conditions were cold, cloudy and damp roads with a strengthening North Westerly wind blowing. We also had a first time rider with us this morning. The weather improved during the ride with  occasional patches of sunshine.

We rode our usual 53km loop out to Newham via Bryces Lane, 3 Chain Road, Chases Lane and turning for the ride back to Woodend at Batters Lane. With the north westerly the sections directly into the wind were a challenge however we all enjoyed the tail wind from Batters Lane and the ride back was much easier.

Back at the cafe it was the usual chatter and refreshments before heading home.

Labour Day Public Holiday Club Ride – Monday – 9th March 2020

17 riders arrived in Woodend this morning for today,s ride. The weather was cool with a very strong southerly wind blowing making the temperature feel colder. Due to the wind direction the ride distance of 61km was in 2 parts as the first segment to Malmsbury having a tail wind the speeds were high and a slow ride back to Woodend into the head wind. 2 riders modified the ride by returning to Woodend part way through the ride.

After the coffee break at Malmsbury it was a shock to get back on the bike for the ride back and everybody’s average speed began to decrease due to the head wind. It was a welcome relief to get back and finish the ride and be out of the wind.
