Sunday Ride – Woodend – 19th August 2018
6 brave riders assembled in Woodend this morning for today’s ride. As we started we were joined by another rider having ridden up from Gisborne. Weather conditions were sunny, cold with a very strong South Westerly wind blowing.
All 7 rode a 42km modified version of the published rides going to Newham via Bryces Lane, Carlshrue and back along Cobb & Co road. The first part of the ride out to Carlshrue was ridden in fine conditions with mainly a tail wind. As we commenced to ride back to Woodend into the head wind we could see dark skies ahead. Passing the Carlshrue Roadhouse the weather changed into Rain, followed by Sleet and finally Snow as we reached our cars in Woodend.
It was a welcome relief to get into the warmth of the cafe for hot refreshments before heading home. 2 riders unfortunately had to ride their bikes home but the rain had ceased when they left the cafe.
